…all the Chinese miners…

In all seriousness, being a Chinese miner has not significantly improved over the last 150 years. They were exploited and discriminated during the California Gold Rush and now they are working in extremely dangerous conditions. Earlier this month, at least 74 Chinese coal miners were killed in a blast in Shanxi province and just this weekend, four other miners were trapped in flooded coal mine. I do believe in the eerie effects of the whole 6 degrees of separation and do not doubt that many individuals in the Asian American community have also been affected by these recent events. It’s something to reflect on and to consider the role of the ethnic activism in the global community.
